July Kasukabe

Recently in the Wednesday morning classes in Kasukabe we have been focusing on basic movements with weapons. Using long objects as tools make it easier to see where your alignment and timing is off.  Also due to the increased weight of the ken or jo you end up using more shoulder strength than without. The hints are obvious and help you concentrate on trying to relax.

On Saturday, following the kids tests, the adults went through some behind the back techniques. We practiced ushiro ryote mochi ikkajo osae ni, ushiro ryote mochi sankajo osae ni. The points for both were the same - the initial movement forward, raising up, and circling around. The latter is just the same as any other ikkajo or sankajo. Don`t think too much.
