Last week around Saitama

Yokomen uchi ikkajo osae ichi at Meiryukan Sakado.

We worked on proper strikes and blocks for almost half the class. It is easy to get lost in form with the simultaneous block and strike in the Yoshinkan yokomen uchi basic techniques. Focus, eyeline and body positioning is key.

We worked on pivoting movements Sunday morning at the Kamiokubo junior high Saitama class. Straight axis from your big toe to the top of your head.

The techniques were shomen uchi ikkajo osae ni (tachi, suwariwaza), shomen uchi yonkajo osae ni, katate aya mochi ikkajo osae renzoku.

We are happy to have a few new members to the Sunday Saitama kids class. With 3 fresh 1st graders, there was a revived energy in the dojo.

Back to basics with some ukemi and suriashi.

As always training hard in Omiya.

yokomen uchi hijishime ichi, yokomen uchi shomen iriminage ichi, yokomen uchi hijiate kokyunage (uchi yoke)

This days focus was the stepping through with the back foot in all 3 techniques. It is easy to float up and lose the power in our hips. Stay squared, stay low.
