Uke seminar 2/5

A few pictures from last Saturday`s ukemi/uke seminar.

Usually the first week in February we hold our annual Winter training. However, the usual amount of 70 to 80 people all together for 6 straight hours of training hasn`t been feasible these last 2 years.

We decided to play it safe and just hold a simple mini seminar.

We split the seminar into 3 parts:

The 1st was just basic ukemi and the progression on each breakfall. 

zenpo kaiten ukemi, koho kaiten ukemi, zenpo hiyaku ukemi, koho ukemi (tachi, suwari), koho hiyaku ukemi

The 2nd was about using those ukemi in basic techiques. Being a good uke, not just having good ukemi.

shihonage, sokumen iriminage, tenchinage, hijiate kokyunage, kotegaeshi

The 3rd was jiyu-waza.  How to feel and fit with anyone. 

There is only so much you can learn by just watching and copying. You have to feel to understand.
