Recently I have been in charge of making my daughter`s lunches. I know they need a nutritious balanced meal. They would of course prefer cake and ice-cream. However, I love pizza... What to do?
Simply put, there are 3 basic patterns of teachers - those who teach what the students need, those who teach what the students want, and those who teach what they themselves want.
It is our responsibilty as teachers, having the experience and know-how, to find a perfect balance between all 3 in order to facilitate each student toward their individual goal.
During the Golden week holidays, the Meiryukan teaching team came together for a 2 hour seminar. Each instructor had about 15minutes to do, tell, teach, show, ask, anything they want. A lot of hints to add to the Aiki data bank.
Following our training we had an open meeting discussing any and all concerns related to teaching and/or dojo management. We spoke on new systems for both current instructors and younger up coming assistants. The future is looking bright!
After 23 years, long time member of Ryu, and now Meiryukan, Inoue Takao sensei received his well deserved 5th dan. For over 2 decades, not only has he started (and continues to start) various successful clubs throughout Saitama, he has also been endlessly promoting Aikido through promotion videos, advertising and so on. A key figure in the Meiryukan team. Always thankful for your support and advice. Congratulations on this milestone.
