Fall gasshuku 2022

From early Saturday, November the 5th to the late afternoon of Sunday the 6th Yoshinkan Aikido Meiryukan held its first training camp in almost 3 years.

Due to the ongoing pandemic we decided to keep things small and simple, and set the number of participants to 15. All adults, and all brown belt and above.
In the first class we went through 6 or 7 techniques from the shodan test syllabus.
With all participants being 3rd kyu and above, the seniors didn`t really need to help out and got to focus solely on their own training.

The second class was and hour and a half of jiyu-waza. Correct form, blending with speed and rythym, strong strikes and throws.
We stayed at the new Kasukabe Super hotel. Enjoyed an evening out and relaxed afterwards in the hotel natural baths.

After Sunday`s delicious buffet breakfast we had a special 2 hour seminar at the Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu Shobukan Dojo. Ueno sensei gave an informative lecture on budo and kenjutsu before going into some hands on training in kumitachi.

Following lunch we were back at the Kasukabe budokan for more. The first class was techniques from the yudan syllabus. First time waza for a few students. Great job keeping up!

The second and final class was on handling multiple attackers. Proper body movements and evasions, understanding the flow, controlling and leading.
