The past few days

Almost finished our 3rd buki waza course at the Aikido Meiryukan Noda club.

After a couple of months off, we had to first run through a review of tanto tandoku dosa ichi, ni as well as tanto soho 1 ~10

Today we started getting into tanto dori → gokajo, shihonage, kotegaeshi
Over in Nagareyama we went through a ton of basic techniques. First were techniques which involve the ikkajo type cut down. Next into pivoting and body shifting techniques.

With less than 2 months until the big winter tests, we had a few visitors from other nearby dojo.
On Sunday in Sakado it was all about hijishime

Using our body and posture, not arm power and brute force to control, not destroy our partner.

The techniques were mune mochi hijishime ichi, ni followed by about 15 minutes of test training

This morning in Omiya we took a look at some 3rd kyu techniques → yokomen uchi shihonage ichi, ni

Everyone knows the rough shape and form at each stop throughout the basic technique. However, the correct movements between those is what turns the kata into waza.
