The kids in both the junior and senior Meiryukan Noda Wednesday classes have been greatly improving.
Almost all the classes start off with about 10 minutes of the basics - kamae, seiza-ho, shikko-ho, ukemi and kihon dosa.
We then run through all the previous techniques they should know based on their rank.
For the junior class there is only 2 to 5 techniques, so it only takes about 5 minutes.
For the seniors we run through anywhere from 5 to 20 warm-up techniques. In both classes we then work on 1 or 2 points that are similar within those waza.
For the second half we introduce a new technique, something that is not required on their upcoming test. Something just fun and challenging. We always finish the last class with continous nonstop 10 to 15 minutes of jiyu-waza. Almost everyone can smoothly do both uke and shite and barely break a sweat.
