Training in Ochiai

 

On Friday October the 18th, Aikido Meiryukan Noda members Katsukawa-san, Kenji and I attended the two 90minute kenshu classes as part of the Tokyo Fusion Gasshuku.

This training camp was held from Wednesday to Sunday at the Sengenkan Dojo (old Yoshinkan headquarter dojo) in Ochiai, Tokyo. There were 3 classes a day taught by past kokusai-bu instructors, Darren Friend, Jon Marshall, and Takashima Saburo sensei. There were visitors from overseas as well as OB from Japan.

From 2004 my first 2 years in Japan were spent here. My last visit being when I accompanied Ando sensei for the 2009 kagami biraki. It was great to be back training at such a nostalgic dojo with both old and new friends. Thanks again to everyone for the hospitality. We look forward to seeing everyone again sometime, somewhere... until then, Osu!
