Shunpukan kids class (suwari waza)
This week we practiced suwari waza techniques - suwari waza shomen uchi ikkajo osae ichi, suwari waza shomen uchi ikkajo osae ni.
The kids are really good with shikko-ho and moving around on their knees, so they didn't have much problem with the movements. However, the initial front strike took some work.
Kids, as well as adults have a tendency to raise their hips along with the hands. We practiced keeping the hips down, spreading the knees and striking straight forward without loosing our balance. Another bad habit is to be only thinking about the form and just hitting each others arms. Soft and slow is fine, but with intent and accuracy please.
