Last day in 2020

Wednesday the 23rd was the last day of Aikido Meiryukan training for 2020.

After presenting some new belts we went right into a full review of aikido basics.

Both kids and adults started off with a hard warm up of break falls, followed by correct posture and the 6 basic movements.

The kids did 10 basic techniques, some connecting techniques (nikajo/hijiate, and nikajo/kotegaeshi), then a few rounds of jiyu-waza to finish off the year.

The adults broke down the basic waza and singled out a point to work on each.

shihonage ichi (2nd step through part)

shihonage ni (the initial pivot)

ikkajo ichi (the cut down)

ikkajo ni (shifting the weight part)

sokumen iriminage ichi (twisting of hips)

tenchinage ichi (using the knee)

shomen iriminage ni (the throw)
