After 4 months of not being able to use the Sakado sports center due to repairs and of course Covid closure, we are finally back to regular training.
Most of the adults have been off the whole time so we did a slow review of a few basic techniques.
shihonage, sankajo, shomen iriminage
4 out of the 9 kids joined a week or two before the closure, but they continued to train every week thereafter at either the Meiryukan Kazo or Fukiage club.
This was the first time the whole gang got together at their home dojo.
Today we worked on koho ukemi, kihon dosa renzoku, jiyu waza.
As well the Sunday morning Meiryukan Saitama club hasn`t been training since the State of Emergency was issued in mid January.
A couple of the adults have been making trips to practice at other nearby dojos during February and March, however this was the first class back at the Kamiokubo junior high dojo.
Back to basics with koho ukemi, hiriki no yosei, hijishime, nikajo, shumatsu dosa.
The theme was the back leg, keeping it straight and strong with the heel down during all sliding movement. It is easy to forget the parts which are the furthest from our eyes. Out of sight, out of mind.
Visitors are always welcome! Check the Meiryukan schedule for times and locations.
