Nice weather for training

Another full weekend of Aikido in Chiba and Saitama.

Working on suwariwaza katate mochi sokumen iriminage ni at Meiryukan Sakado. The uke for this technique is a tough one. Staying close to our partner and not getting your ankle twisted up is key.

Some more sokumen iriminage in Kazo, but this time one of the set techniques from the 2021 yudan test syllabus - yokomen uchi sokumen iriminage ni.

Today`s main point was the second step, the one when you enter in behind your partner, not sliding up that back foot, keeping the proper distance to break their balance.

The Meiryukan Kazo kids first practiced the correct way to take uke for both shomen uchi ikkajo osae, ni.

Then we tried a difficult technique - kata mochi hijishime ni. For most of them, it was their first shot at this kids shodan technique.

We focused on keeping the arm nicely fit against the chest during the pivot.

On Saturday, in Nagareyama, Chiba, the adults played with suwariwaza katate mochi nikajo osae ni.

A pretty basic technique however a lot of things to concentrate on. Today there were 2 main points, correct posture and distance during the initial lock, and then not being late with the hands during the big pivot.
