Weekday Meiryukan

Tonight in Kasukabe after the usual warm-ups, we spent a good 15 to 20 minutes on zenpo/koho kaiten ukemi.

We then worked on big pivots during the shumatsu dosa ni movement, followed with ryote mochi tenchinage ni. Check your form at each position - both shite and uke.

At yesterday`s Noda class we were back to regular training. The 4:30 to 5:30 class is open to kids ranging from kindergarten to junior high. This class focuses only on basics. From proper aisatsu, belt tying, bowing in, to of course kamae, ukemi, kihon dosa, and always finishing with cleaning.

The 5:45 to 6:45 class is for 5th kyu and above. Pinning and throwing techniques.

On Tuesday we practiced shoulder grasp techniques.

kata mochi hijishime ichi, ni - focusing on our posture, not on our partners elbow.

suwari waza kata mochi kuzushi - hips down and hands in our center.

kata mochi kokyunage - don`t rush the throw, invite, lead and release.
