Warming up

To the right, the Kasukabe kids burning off their last bit of energy at the end of  Saturday morning`s class.

With the weather warming up and still being muzzled with masks, the training takes a toll on stamina. However, the kids worked hard for the full hour on kihon dosa and kihon waza. Awesome job!

On Sunday in Kazo we worked on the connection of basic movements and basic techniques.

First was shumatsu dosa ni → ryote mochi tenchinage ni

Next was shumatsu dosa ichi → ryote mochi hijishime ichi

Finished with some kokyunage fun!

In the afternoon, we were in Kumagaya.

This was my first time teaching at the new facility, the Kumagaya west Junior-high dojo.

A big, well ventilated room with of course a tatami area, a kendo hall, and even a table tennis section.

Today we had visitors from Kasukabe, Sakado, and Fukiage.

The kids went through a couple basic techniques, then into test training.

As for the adults we first broke them into 4 groups and had them alternate into short mini kihon dosa seminars taught by 4 senior blackbelts. Following this, 2 different katate mochi kokyunage techniques in groups.
