Last few days at Meiryukan

Thursday evening in Kasukabe the kids and adults focused on turning on our toes during pivoting movements. Easier said than done when paired up and your mind is full with twisting and turning, throwing and locking etc. The main technique was katate mochi nikajo osae ni(tachi, suwari).

On Wednesday at the Noda Shunpukan senior kisd class we went through shomen uchi yonkajo osae ichi, ni. The main point was keeping control of our partner`s elbow to take their balance. It is easy to get too focused on the grip of the wrist and forget to look at the bigger picture. We finished the class with the usual rounds of jiyu-waza.

Tuesday was all about hip direction. We practiced mune mochi hijishime ni(tachi, suwari). Keeping our outside hip from opening up on regular pivots while maintaining a strong axis and proper posture. Also worked on the final pin and concentrating our power through the elbow to the shoulder and on.
