This year 12 students ranging from elementary to university took part in the nearly 10 minute demo. This year we added 6 new junior faces to our team.
The techniques/demo idea was all planned out by some of the members while we were waiting in transit on our way back to Japan from the Australia gasshuku early August. Like last year, we never had a full rehearsal... with all participants being busy students, it was impossible to get everyone together. However, we practiced when and where we could and somehow managed to put things together on the day.
Always a challenge to do an energetic yet safe enbu. However add the fact it was on hard wood and in a space the size of my living room with a meter drop off all edges added to the seriousness. Remember, elementary students and white belts were with us... Full concentration and awareness for both shite and uke. Amazing job by all!
