First day back at Sakado

 

First day back at Meiryukan Sakado after the winter holidays. A few of the kids finally got their new belts from the December tests. Congratulations!

Even though the next test will not be for some time, the kids are all still showing up early and practicing almost a full hour before the actual class even starts. Some of them are even sticking around afterwards.

During the adult class, we stuck to basics. The theme was sliding forward movements, mainly diagonally forward. 

The techniques were shomen uchi ikkajo osae ichi, yokomen uchi ikkajo osae ichi, katate mochi ikkajo osae ichi, kata mochi ikkajo osae ichi, and katate mochi sokumen iriminage ichi.

If you can master that one seemingly simple diagonal movement, many of your basic techniques will improve.
